The Spiritual Key Treatment Programme The spiritual key treatment programme is based on the 12 step programme of Alcoholics Anonymous which was formulated in 1939 in the USA. This is the most effective formula in the treatment of addiction and has been accepted worldwide. The programme director at the home farm retreat has taken an in-depth look at the 12 step programme and devised a system that goes into greater detail and gives the client a better understanding of their problem and more importantly the solution to that problem. This consists of looking at the clients social, emotional, psychological, mental, spiritual and physical circumstances. At the early stages of treatment the client will be assessed by staff so that they can be given the due care and support they need to recover from the cycle of addiction .The aim of this process is to enable the client to recognise the behaviour and emotions that keep them in this cycle. The addict is emotionally immature and until they find their emotional selves they will keep repeating the same old behaviour time and time again. The programme director has vast experience in the addiction field and has been helping addicts to find recovery for over 11 years. His philosophy is that it takes an addict to know an addict. He has worked in the treatment setting in Europe and most recently in South Africa. During this time he has witnessed what DOES work and what DOESNT work.!
